The massive palace of People's Friendship, current name Istiklol, is proudly sitting in one of busy Tashkent's avenues. It was built in 1981 specifically for large events and concerts. The total capacity is over 3900 seats.
Istiklol Palace (former Palace of Peoples Friendship)
The Soviet-time building is now used to host concert and performances of Uzbek pop musicians and singers as well as invited guests from abroad.
The Palace is a frequent place to visit for tourists as it can be used as a starting point to reach more attractions, such as the Abul Kosim Madrassah with its Handicraft Center, Park named after Alisher Navoi, Zerafshan Restaurant etc.
It is a very pleasant part of Tashkent, not too crowded, clean and tranquille.
