The Museum of Applied Arts in Tashkent features exhibits of handcrafts and folk art from entire Uzbekistan. The museum was founded in 1937, and it gathered a huge collection of various folk art products, such as jewelry, carved metal plates and dishes, various kinds of fabric, embroidery etc. The building itself is a piece of art, which previously belonged to a Russian Embassador to Turkestan.
Located in a shady area, it is a perfect place to visit when doing a tour of Tashkent. It is centrally located. Nearby are gift and souvenir shops where handcraft products can be purchased.
