In this one day tour you will take a city excursion to explore the modern capital city of Uzbekistan, ancient Tashkent. A major political, economic and cultural center of Central Asia, this city is an entrance gate to the rest of the region because it is so conveniently located in the heart of Central Asia and connects its countries through many links, including airlines, railways, auto transport etc.

Tashkent boasts rich cultural environment including diverse theaters, museums, galleries and night life. You will be offered a program that best suits your needs and budget.

Day 1

Full day city excursion of Tashkent

You start your excursion of Tashkent early in the morning by visiting the central part of the city, beginning with the park of Amir Temur, then moving along the pedestrian boulevard through the shopping center to the famous Theater of Alisher Navoi.

One of important sights that reflects the beauty of Tashkent is its Metro. Built after the Great Patriotic War, it represents a true piece of art, where each station is devoted to a fact or event of Uzbek life.

Tashkent is an important religious center of Central Asia and Uzbekistan. The city hosts the Management Board of Muslims, a number of important Islamic monuments and museums, for example, the famous Hasti Imam Square, where the Holy Qoran of 7th century is kept.

Visiting museums in Tashkent is a great way to get in-depth knowledge of the country's history, architecture, folk art and handcrafts, fine arts, painting and sculpture. You will visit the Folk Art Museum to learn about handcrafts and folk art of Central Asia, and then move along to the Madrassah of Abul Kosim, where the present-day handcraft artisans are making such traditional things for sale. Additional list of advised museums (can be requested for extra charge) includes the Museum of Amir Temir, Museum of History of Uzbekistan, Museum of Fine Arts.

An important part of your tour around Tashkent and a must-see is the Tashkent bazaars or marketplaces where citizens buy daily food, groceries, fruit and vegetables, clothing, etc. Visiting such a bazaar can be a great way to better understand the essence of Uzbek lifestyle and national character. You will visit the Chorsu Bazaar (Old City). Optional: Alayski Bazaar.
