The madrasah stands in the northern part of Shahrisabz opposite to portal towers of Ak-Sarai palace. Chubin was built of burnt brick at the end of the 17th century and according to tradition it is made up of a mosque (khanaka), classrooms (darskhona) and khudj'ras for pupils. The mosque and darskhona are covered by big domes, the khudjras - by small. Madrasah's interiors are decorated with ganch. Chubin was restored in 1994-1996. Today it is Shahrisabz museum of history. A Zoroastrian ossuary found near the city is one of the unique exhibits of the museum. The ossuary is painted with a picture of a Zoroastrian priest performing a ritual ceremony.
