Located between the Chor-Minor and Lyabi-Khauz ensembles on the Shahrud Canal, the Mehtar Ambar Hotel is housed in an ancient building, formerly a caravan-serai, a night-over for a caravan. Here, on the ground floor were kept camels and horses, and the second floor was for merchants and drivers. The hotel was opened in 2001; it has eleven rooms, including two triple rooms, six double rooms and three single rooms. Each of the rooms has been restored in the national style which is designed to demonstrate the atmosphere of the caravan-serai of the 19th century. All rooms are decorated with national ornaments, handmade products such as suzane and carpets, and equipped with air conditioning, satellite TV, wireless Internet minibar, bathroom with toiletries and hairdryer.
The hotel features a restaurant serving Eastern and European cuisine, a bar, a terrace in the courtyard, a massage room, a gift shop, excursions office and bicycle rental. Fax and telephone are available at the reception. The hotel allows guests to stay with pets. Airport shuttle is available. The drive to the airport takes ten minutes, and the train station can be reached in fifteen minutes.
