Uzbekistan launches a fast train that connects Samarkand and Tashkent with Astana

New Train to Connect Samarkand-Tashkent-Astana

Opening of the route for the summer of 2017 has been the result of an agreement between the governments of the two countries, aiming at increasing the tourist flow between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The new train will allow potential tourists from Kazakhstan to visit Uzbekistan and its famous tourist cities - Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva.
The train leaves every Friday, departure at night (3:46 am) from Samarkand, arrives in Tashkent at 8:20 am, and then at 17:22 on the same day it arrives in Astana.
The new train is timed to the international energy exhibition EXPO 2017 which will be held in Astana from June 10 to September 10. It is planned that over 100 countries will take part in the exhibition, and as many as 5 million people will visit it. A part of this flow of guests into the region can be attracted to Uzbekistan, a country rich in tourist attractions along the ancient Silk Road.
