Museum of Applied Art, Tashkent, Uzbekistan

The Museum of Applied Arts in Tashkent features exhibits of handcrafts and folk art from entire Uzbekistan. The museum was founded in 1937, and it gathered a huge collection of various folk art products, such as jewelry, carved metal plates and dishes, various kinds of fabric, embroidery etc. The building itself is a piece of art, which previously belonged to a Russian Embassador to Turkestan. Located in a shady area, it is a perfect place to visit when doing a tour of Tashkent. It is centrally located. Nearby are gift and souvenir shops where handcraft products can be purchased.
